As a journalist, I’ve written about crime for newspapers, business deals for magazines, cruise ship ports for online travel publications and industry trends for websites. My focus now is exclusively on travel.

The iconic 1930s ocean liner, now permanently docked on the Pacific Coast, has harbored movie stars, British royals, and prime ministers–as well as more than a few ghosts. In fact, Time magazine designated it one of the most haunted ships in the U.S.
I was thrilled to be one of the ship’s first overnight guests when she finally reopened in May, after closing for nearly three years due to the Covid pandemic. I didn’t have a paranormal experience while aboard the floating history museum. But I felt as if I were traveling back in time to the days when luxurious ocean liners like the Queen Mary provided the fastest transport between Europe and North America.

I love that they have preserved so much of the original layout and finishes. That’s inviting to me. I’d really enjoy a drink in the observation deck bar. Great line about feeling like you are in a Turner Classic movie.
