As a journalist, I’ve written about crime for newspapers, business deals for magazines, cruise ship ports for online travel publications and industry trends for websites. My focus now is exclusively on travel. I’ve written about many places and topics, including a Hindu wedding in India and snorkeling in Cuba’s Bay of Pigs. I visited hilltop temples in Bali and a luxury hotel on a private island near Venice that was once a sanatorium.

Home is Austin, Texas. But I’ve loved to travel since my early days of peering out the back window of the family station wagon. A fishing boat usually trailed behind as we left Fort Wayne, Indiana, and headed north to the Great Lakes. Then, travel meant sleeping in a tent, catching a pike and cooking the fish on a Coleman stove.

Today, I appreciate hotels with spas and a glass of Brunello with pappardelle and a wild boar ragu. Adventure is still an essential ingredient.
